Spin Mop vs Steam Mop – Which Is Your Best Option?

Shark Steam Mop and O-Cedar Spin Mop are both excellent mopping systems. Choosing the right mop depends on your needs, house, and desired results.

Pros & Cons About The Shark Steam Mop

Pros

[1] There is no need to change dirty water since the Shark Steam Mop always uses clean water. Simply toss your dirty mophead into the washer.

[2] No chemicals are required for cleaning. This is great for those who are sensitive to fumes and fragrances or who want to avoid toxic cleaning products.

[3] In addition to cleaning, the steam mop also sanitizes.

[4] It is lightweight and easy to use.

[5] As it glides across the floor, the mophead is easy to steer.

[6] It is ideal for hardwood floors because the steamer doesn’t leave them soaking wet.

Cons

[1] The steam mop’s awkwardly large head makes it difficult to clean smaller areas such as behind the toilet bowl.

[2] The floor feels cool immediately after steaming them, so it’s hard to tell if the steam really touches them.

[3] While corded steam mop options are not ideal since you can’t move the steamer around, there are cordless steam mop options available.

Pros & Cons About The O-Cedar Spin Mop

Pros

[1] You can choose the type of cleaning solution that you use.

[2] Super lightweight, convenient, and easy to maneuver.

[3] The mopheads can be washed in the washing machine, making them very easy to clean.

[4] If necessary, you can deep clean certain spots with a little elbow grease.

[5] Using the pedal to spin the mop and wring out the water, you can control how wet or dry your floors are.

Cons

[1] You will have to dump out your dirty water and rinse your bucket.

[2] As you mop, your hot water is cooling off drastically.

In Conclusion

Shark Steam Mop and O-Cedar Spin Mop are both excellent mopping systems. If you prefer a traditional mopping system that allows more control over the mopping process, the spin mop may be for you. On the other hand, it may be a good idea to consider a steam mop if you want a mopping system that doesn’t require chemicals and is great for quickly cleaning messes and spills. Choosing the right mop depends on your needs, house, and desired results.

More Information From Angela Brown

Spin Mop

[1] Microfiber mopheads are designed to hold water so wringing out all of the water completely may be difficult.

[2] The spin mop’s flexible head allows you to reach hard-to-reach areas.

[3] The spin mop works well as a dust mop if you use it while the mophead is dry.

Steam Mop

[1] You have to use a steam mop quickly to avoid etching marks on the floor.

[2] Can be used as a regular mop without overusing the steam feature.

[3] Using steam in non-high-traffic areas is unnecessary.

Spin mops are not my favorite tools for hardwood floors unless you use them dry with a spray bottle to spritz the flooring. However, there are also risks with using a steam mop. If you use a steam mop, you need to move quickly because leaving it on one spot for too long can leave a mark on your floor.
